DIFYC (2002)

This was a piece of work produced for Glasgow’s International New Territories Festival in early 2002, and fused music, dance and theatre in an exploration of maps and mapping.

The work was created in collaboration with performer Sarah Johnson and with a variety of community groups throughout Glasgow. It was inspired in particular by skateboarders and how they carry there own internal maps of city centres defined by comfort, challenge and prohibition.

Similar urban maps are of course carried by many of us, for example women with prams, young people, wheelchair users and the elderly.
